Cross-Functional Team

[noun]

What is a cross functional team?

For us, a cross-functional team is comprised of a group of people with a diverse variety of experience, in which a number of different types of capacities, backgrounds and skills are strategically leveraged in order to ensure specific objectives and results are achieved with efficiency and in a timely manner. Adopting this type of multi-disciplinary team approach is crucial within any successful organization as it allows for different vantage points and views on a project, situation, even understanding a customer and problem-solving. It ultimately also defines the way we interpret a value-add teamwork as a lean small business enterprise.

Our cross functional approach

A clear roadmap is the single most important element to the success of the companies we’ve helped and the blueprint for many of the digital platforms that we’ve constructed. The strategic and tactical blueprint informs 3rd Party ‘build’ partners, potential investors and motivates staff towards accelerated growth. It’s important to put Strategy first, often when we’ve stepped into organizations that are struggling with the challenges inevitable with any start-up, such as cashflow, scale, or even the right resourcing approach through in-house and outsourced experts, and with larger companies that are reaching top of their market cap, where marketing budgets drive company valuation, without a foundational strategy, we’ve found that a hybrid of resources can fall victim to aimless execution. The netamorphosis growth process focuses our collaboration in human resources (all resources, internal, as well as, external/contractors) evaluation (roles, tasks and capabilities) and discovery, which facilitates our understanding of the perspective(s) of everyone involved.

5 Cross functional team advantages

  1. Improved communication and coordination among team members
  2. Increased creativity and innovation through collaborative efforts
  3. Cross functional teams are able to bring a more diverse skillset which allows for a more flexible approach
  4. Greater workflow efficiency given the improved alignment across departments
  5. Increased productivity which can provide more comprehensive deliverables

The additional benefits of cross functional teams

We’ve found that collectively we make better decisions than top down or strictly from an external consultative ‘expert’ perspective: neta’s cross functional approach is based on close and cross-functional coordination both within the teams that work within our agency and with those who are part our clients’ workforce. The internal outline that results from our Strategy service is ultimately the most comprehensive deliverable throughout our neta growth process and most relevant to the ‘core’/internal client team. What materializes in subsequent phases, is an evolution of this deliverable within a more nimble workbook approach for initiative management, that also facilitates ‘vision’ documentation that can efficiently bring in key partners such as investors, wholesale, licensing partners or graphic designers/programmers, and even on-boarding a full marketing team in house with shared performance objectives and brand guidelines tailored to each client’s growth path forward.

Cross functional team collaboration

Our focus on cross-functional team building and interdisciplinarity is pivotal to our subsequent website platform set-up work as well, especially within the areas of developing RFP’s (Request for Proposals) for select marketing and 3rd Party acquisition specialist partners, in addition to the recruiting and hiring of key (part-time, full-time) resources as outlined within the strategy and to ‘support’ the new digital and systemic framework. The agility of our multi-disciplinary teams approach remains also as neta segues into an analytical and strategic advisor role, which is when we tighten performance via two key service offerings; Analytics Consulting and Performance Management.
